Brown Sugar Squash & Brussels Sprouts en Papillote
adapted from Dorie Greenspan's "Around My French Table" Recipe Haiku!
- 1/2 lb peeled butternut squash, cubed
- 8 small Brussels sprouts, halved
- 1/2 apple, peeled, cored, and cubed
- 2 tsp olive oil
- Salt & freshly ground pepper
- 1/2 tsp brown sugar, or less to taste
- 4 fresh sage leaves
Preheat the oven
400 degrees will work
Cut some foil squares
Veggies and apple
Some oil, salt, and pepper
brown sugar and sage
Wrap up in foil
Seal them well and put on pan
Bake thirty minutes

ReplyDeleteYup, I think you need to do all your Dorie instructions in Haiku form. Roasting would have been better, but I still enjoyed these :)
Very delicious looking, Trevor! Lovely photos! I really enjoyed the ease of this dish, and yet so delicious! Roasting is always my preferred method for veggies, but this was good!

ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever read a haiku recipe... very to the point. Veggies look great but I am a roaster Dorie's fancy techniques aren't changing me.

ReplyDeleteTrevor, the picture of your vegetables is really terrific - love the photography, always! The combination of ingredients in this recipe seems to have been a winner for most Doristas, roasted or "en papillote".

ReplyDeleteI just gave brussel sprouts to my dad (drat). I love them and this looks like a comfort Sunday side dish - ala Dorie. Looks scrumptious! I have decided not to tweet this contest entry, but have opted to scribble it on the bathroom stall, which according to Google, attracts interested parties.
ReplyDeleteI am anxious to roll back to your Galette but will comment here first. I enjoyed this, nice flavor, and easily made. But, like you, I prefer my veggies roasted and carmelized. Yes, I must say, Trevor, that it is very rude that I sometimes make friends and family wait for pictures. I have to work on that. We did almost give Peter a heart attack and he is not a young man.
ReplyDeleteIf I did not want to cook outdoors I would have roasted these veges. Beautifully done. I'm getting some ideas and with use those ideas and also roast next time.
