I figure I owe a bit of an update to my Adventures with The Zone. Today is day 4 of the program I started on Monday where kitchen actually delivers an entire days worth of "diet meals" to my door each day. Several have written me asking me about what a typical day looks like so I have posted the menu that arrived with today's cooler full of food. Since Monday's dry, somewhat insufficient muffin, we have had much better fare to kick off the day. Tuesday was an omelet with veggies, Wednesday was a bowl of granola with milk (2%) and today was "Egg Scramble w/Sauted Asparagus and Cheese."This picture was taken from my desk this morning so the lighting wasn't all that great but you get the idea. A significant step up from the muffin, wouldn't you say? There has been something a bit strange about the menu selections so far though. Check out "snack 2" on the menu! Every day you get two 'snacks'. The Zone bar is a constant. I was told this is because the daytime items are made to be the most 'portable' since not everyone is at home or near a kitchen to prepare. (Most lunches are green salads with some featured protein such as chicken or grilled fish.) That leaves snack 2 for dessert. Chicken soup for dessert? Yesterday was Vegetable Ragout. I've just been switching them around so I can have the bar for the last item of the day but the lack of variety might cause me to look for other zone alternatives shortly.
I'm actually a lot less hungry than I was that first day. I've realized that I have not felt full since I started this a few days ago. I like that feeling (!) and hope I get used to it as it seems that is the key to longer term success on any diet. I won't be weighing in until next week so don't ask if it is working just quite yet. You know I'll tell you when I know!
(Note: and while I am thinking of it, please know I have no affiliation with this company and I'm only blogging about this experience because I've already shared so much about what I eat. Besides, its now a lot more complicated for bloggers who accept payment for writing about products or services. Who wants to tangle with the FTC?)
